Kakoste House

…in the one of the most beautiful regions of Slovenia,
in three kilometers from the ski resort of Kranjska Gora
(four kilometers away from the ski lift),
in the alpine village of Gozd Martuljek.

If you want to relax in the heart of the Julian Alps, long dreamed of visiting Slovenia and to live in the most real alpine village with the whole family, or with friends, or if you searching for a quiet, secluded place for training, retreat, seminar, yoga tour – We have great news for you!

We offer you Kakoste House – comfortable house right in the heart of the Slovenian Alps!

Kakoste House – it’s two floors of a privat house with a basement for bikes and motorbikes, ski equipment, children’s scooters and baby’s carriage, 5 bedrooms (11 people), 2 bathrooms, kitchen, living room with a real fireplace and a view of the peaks of the Julian Alps, a balcony and a large loggia… as well as a garden and all the necessary for a barbecue.
The garden area allows you to install 4-6 tents … with a view of the Julian Alps, of course 😉

If we need to describe our region in two words, it would be “quiet & beautiful”…
Kakoste House stands on a bank of the mountain river Sava Dolinka. Right behind the house, there is a small wooden bridge over the river. The forest paths starts there leading directly to the top of the mountain Srednji Vrh and to the town Krajnska Gora.

In the village of Srednji Vrh there is a slovenian family farm. They`ll gladly offer you alpine semi-hard cheese (that actually tastier than that we have ever tried), homemade yogurts, sour cream and other ecological products from milk of alpine cows.

The Triglav National Park is in 300 meters from Kakoste House. Canyons, waterfalls, hiking trails of any level of complexity are all within walking distance, and will please both beginners and advanced travelers.

The panoramic bicycle path, which runs along the border of the National Park, continues more than sixty kilometers to Italy and is laid along amazing mountainous terrain. We have got rollers, bicycles (also we will give you recommendations, where to go/ride).

Three kilometers from Kakoste House there is one of the largest ski resorts in Slovenia – Krajnska Gora. In addition to traditional skiing, snowboarding, sledding and summer sledding, tourists can enjoy one of the most beautiful national parks in the Alps – the Triglav National Park. This place, with its untouched nature – waterfalls and lakes, rocky peaks and caves, mountain streams and alpine meadows – will not leave anyone indifferent! All our guests, to whom we recommended routes of varying levels of complexity, returning hotel in the evening, were absolutely amazed and full of impressions!

In the Krajnska Gora you can find rest and entertainment for every taste – from a sauna with a swimming pool to a casino. There are billiards and nightclubs, a large selection of shops, cafes and restaurants.

In the warm season, the ski lifts of Kranjska Gora also work to facilitate the ascent of tourists to the walking routes of the Triglav National Park.

Since May, on the alpine slopes of Kranjska Gora there are summer sledges – in five minutes you will roll down from a height of 1500 meters. Also there is a tubing, the descent is 70 meters, the slope is 25% .

Five kilometers from Kakoste House is Lake Jasna. These are two ponds separated by a narrow sand strip. Around the lake there is a hiking trail, with wooden sun loungers, bridges and even a free library. Tourists from all over the world leave books there in all languages. A three-level wooden tower for jumping into crystal clear Alpine water will entertain both children and adults.

Ten kilometers from us, in the village of Mojstrana you will find one of the roads leading deep into the National Park, to the symbol of Slovenia, Mount Triglav, past the giant waterfall Perichnik with a little secret (we’ll tell you).
Only thirty kilometers from us – the famous Lake Bled, a real jewel in the palms of the ancient Alps. Restaurants, nightclubs, summer concerts – this is really a party place, where all the time something happens. An ancient castle on a rock above the lake and an island with an active temple add charm to this place.

In an hour drive from our house there is another lake – Bohinj. You will not find there casinos and nightclubs, because it is located in the National Park … But you will never forget the crystal clear water with incredible color and secluded beaches, fairytale forest and extraordinary beauty of the Savica Falls.
The cable car in five minutes will take you to the panoramic platform above the lake and the Vogel ski resort. And if you have never been addicted to many hours of climbing uphill, you will have a unique chance to see the highest point of the Julian Alps, Mountain Triglav (2864 meters above sea level). From the panoramic platform Vogel in clear weather, this three-headed giant can be seen very well.
We can say so many words about our beauties, but, as everybody knows, it’s better to see once by your own, than watch hundred videos on YouTube or read travel bloggers, or even go for a walk on Google maps, right? Perhaps, waking up early in the morning by magic singing of birds, and going out to the panoramic veranda of our house to drink a mug of fragrant, freshly brewed coffee, you yourself will become a bloger … why not?

Oh yeah, almost forgot: to the borders with Italy and Austria only 15 km. If suddenly you will want to taste a real Italian pizza or a unique Austrian beer of the Carinthian region – 20 minutes on a beautiful road and your all your wishes will be real!

And we really love to receive guests, and we consider our work to be the best in the world!
And one of the most favorite parts of our work is to discuss with the guests routes for walking, to share our own experience about beauty of Slovenia, to anticipate their delight in advance!

By the way, about the house…

Whole planning your vacation, you do not need to think about such little things as towels and, especially, bed linens! By your arrival we will make all the beds you need clean, dried under the sun and the fresh Alpine air. You will find ironed towels in the room too.

There is a pantry for skis and snowboards in the house, three mountain bikes will already be waiting for you in our garage.

In the backyard you can cook a barbecue, enjoying the rest in the hammocks and deckchairs under the clear sky, listening to the sound of the river and the rustle of trees in the forest …
The parking of our house contains about 4-7 (if you want more) cars.

The bus stop is a seven minute walk along the picturesque hiking trail along the Sava mountain river, near a wonderful village restaurant and a shop where you can buy everything you need, from food and drinks to shampoos and creams!
